Where Does the Power Lie?Notes of Revelations from the Curandero

Every participant in our retreats receives a detailed and specific instruction (a message) from Curandero Carlos regarding their future: understanding their destiny, their role in it, and what to avoid. At the conclusion of an Ayahuasca ceremony, you gain knowledge about yourself and your world straight from the source. Curandero speaks about matters of destiny in the language of his ancestors. Translating his messages to the ceremony participant is one of the most intricate processes of the retreat.

We gather the Maestro’s revelations because they offer explanations about the nature of the world for those interested in Ayahuasca ceremonies. One day, these dialogues with the Curandero will form a book, but for now, we will share some excerpts from these conversations here.

— It is believed that Ayahuasca shamans follow specific techniques passed down from their ancestors, members of a particular tribe. Nowadays, it’s common for people to ask which tribe the Curandero belongs to: Shipibo, Waorani, Shuar… Does the Curandero’s tribal affiliation matter for someone intending to admit an Ayahuasca ceremony? — A shaman’s power is not determined by their tribe. It either exists, or it doesn’t. — Where does the power of the Ayahuasca ceremony come from? — According to nature’s design, everyone has access to this power, but often, people get in their own way. The Ayahuasca ceremony helps to overcome all that is unnecessary. The essence of any Ayahuasca ceremony boils down to the choice of incense and music the Curandero uses (laughs). But the true essence lies elsewhere. When you reach your inner strength, you understand everything without words. You get the feeling: “Yes, this is it.” Ayahuasca ceremonies allow you to see the energetic structure of each personst’s field. I can clearly see your emotions—they are a well-defined structure with their own vibrational frequency. The Ayahuasca ceremony gives you the ability to observe the sequence of certain future events. If the event is desired by the Ayahuasca retreat participant, they need to create vibrational harmony with it. If not, it’s necessary to neutralize the entities within you that attract these events. — How can you tell if you need to attend an Ayahuasca ceremony? — Ask your heart. Trust it. The key is learning to listen to it. I’m often asked this question. — You give people during an Ayahuasca retreat a specific plan of action. But doesn’t everything get decided by the heart? — There’s no contradiction here. I can hear your heart more clearly than you do. Seeing your path during the ceremony is our shared goal of the retreat. I need to feel you during the Ayahuasca ritual, to see your energy field, but you must open up to me. The Ayahuasca ceremony should relax and disarm you. Only then will the retreat be successful: I help you to hear your heart, and you trust me with all your “demons” (which in Quechua literally translates to “unblinking entities”). — Does the Ayahuasca ceremony always lead to results? — Judging by the number of people who return to our Ayahuasca ceremonies, I’d say I’m doing a decent job. Solving everyday issues—relationships, money, health—are just side bonuses. Many people think these bonuses are the goal of the Ayahuasca ceremonies, but the real purpose is entirely different. — Many Europeans attend your Ayahuasca ceremonies. Is there a difference between Western perspectives and the approach of your ancestors? — The Western mindset is very specific. It is filled with many words and concepts. The biggest enemies of the heart’s voice. That’s why there are so many problems. There is a persistent belief in imposed ideas, which block access to the essence. For people with many of these rigid beliefs, I often ask them to sit in silence by the river for a few days before going to the Ayahuasca ceremony. The hardest challenge for them is the silent dialogue with themselves, which is often more difficult than the ceremony itself.
